St. Patrick’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. There are many traditions that remind me of my childhood. My parents used these Irish coffee mugs each year for a St. Patty’s Day night cap.
Here is my favorite Irish Coffee recipe:
- freshly brewed coffee
- cinnamon stick (put in the coffee pot)
- brown sugar
- ¾ ounce of Irish Whiskey
- ¾ ounce of Bailey’s Original Irish Cream (I used to use Bailey’s Mint Chocolate flavor, but they do not make it anymore. You could use Bailey’s Vanilla Cinnamon flavor, too.)
- whipped cream with cinnamon sprinkled on top
- add Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies to dunk!
It’s delicious! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
New idea for me – I’ve never used Baileys. Learned recipe with Kahlua, but I substitute Tia Maria. It is made from Jamacian coffee beans with a hint of vanilla. You mentioning mint makes me think to try Vandermint Liqueur. Remember, dad always had it in the liquor cabinet! Happy St Patrick’s Day!
Kahlua is yummy – I use that when making Mexican coffee – coffee, tequila (optional), Kahlua, cinnamon, whip cream on top! Cinnamon is the key ingredient. Godiva chocolate liqueur can be used in place of Kahlua.
Oh man, why didn’t I read this post BEFORE last weekend? My mom was visiting for St. Patty’s day and she would have loved this! We both would have. Oh well, I’ll have to try it this coming weekend and just pretend it’s still the 17th. Thanks!
That’s the great thing about being Irish – drinking whiskey anytime is acceptable! Hope you had a good visit with your mom. Thanks for reading!
Admiring the time and effort you put into your blog

the same old rehashed material. Wonderful read!
