On TV – We are currently in the “in-between weeks” for TV. I finally watched the season finales of Law and Order SVU, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD. Detective Erin Lindsay – what, what, what are you doing?? I wish Sassy Gay Friend was her friend. There were so many things she did in this episode that I thought was completely out of character. I’m glad Sophia Bush struggled with it too. For her take, read her interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
On the Page – HGTV Magazine’s June issue – I was excited to see that my lime green and turquoise paper lanterns I hang on my patio made the cover of this issue! The whole magazine is screaming summer from the color palettes, the patio and outdoor decor, the flea market flips, and the featured tiny beach houses.
For the Home – 8 Cleaning Mistakes You’re Probably Making from Real Simple. I’m doing 4 out of these 8 things! Time to switch up some of my cleaning routines.
In the Kitchen- 10 Fruits and Vegetables You are Storing Wrong from The Washington Post. Apparently this is the week to expose all my mistakes! I’m storing 5 out of 10 wrong! I was so glad to see this article this week because I am trying to get my fresh produce to last as long as possible.
On the To-Do List – In Philadelphia this weekend, The Oval is opening. On their event calendar from May 30 – June 6 is the Future Sensations touring exhibit by Saint-Gobain, the world’s largest building materials company. This touring exhibition is stopping only in Shanghai, China; São Paulo, Brazil; Paris, France; and Philadelphia, PA, USA.
On the Bookshelf – 26 of the Hottest New Books You’ll Want to Read This Summer from PopSugar. Lots of favorite authors are coming out with new novels this summer, just in time to throw them in your beach bag, including Candace Bushnell, Jennifer Weiner, Jackie Collins, and Judy Blume.
Have a great weekend. Leave me a comment and let me know what you are loving this week. What are you watching, reading, and doing? Thanks for reading.
Thanks for posting that article with Sophia Bush. It definitely puts her character’s actions into perspective. I was not thrilled that they killed off Nadia, I truly didn’t see it coming, but now to see Erin’s anguish over it and to think she isn’t good enough, really threw me. I don’t remember who said it, but someone said if she hadn’t saved Nadia, then Nadia would have died from a drug overdose. She almost did, and Erin saved her. After reading the article and understanding the concept of Bunny as a physical presence she is “allowed” to be mad at or mad in front of, it did pull it together more. I felt, while watching it, that it came out of left field, so it is nice to know Sophia struggled with the idea as well. But also in that article, we know it will somehow eventually be cleared up. I would hate to not have her around 🙂
I was really glad to see this article too. So much is out of character. The Nadia dying of drugs comment – was me! Friday favorites 5/8/15 🙂 my guess is this is like the task force. Short lived. (Hopefully!). Chicago Med is starting in the fall, too.
I did read that was starting up. I’m not big on medical dramas-I guess the death seems more real and I always end up crying!
I’ve been watching my Wayward Pines and Aquarius since all our other shows ended. And I’m patiently waiting for OITNB to start!
I forgot to comment on the other stuff! So, I read the cleaning rules-I am definitely doing some of the wrong things but Joe taught me, how embarrassing, about spraying the cleaning solution onto the cloth you use to clean with. I can’t wait to correct him about the utensils in the dishwasher.
Storing food is Joe’s but the only thing I can say he does is the garlic one. I told him I am sending him the link. We basically buy all our fruits and veggies at the Farmer’s Market and they seem to last longer than store bought but being able to prolong the rotting even more is always a good thing.
Sadly, The Oval is closing two days before we get there. I booked our flight, Lainie and I, for June 8th. I like that you post stuff like this, I will need it more than ever now that so many things are happening in Philly!
How did I know that there has been an entire series of Princess Diaries?
The oval will still be open, just that exhibit will be gone. The oval is always fun. Check the website out! My cucumbers never last – because I put them in the fridge! I need to print the whole article out and put it on the fridge. I put utensils in the dishwasher wrong too apparently!!!
I sent the link to Joe and I woke up to the asparagus in the container in water! He took it very seriously!
I’ll check the Oval website-there is so much happening in Philly now. It feels like much of it started after I moved so I’m feeling clueless and excited all at the same time!
